Principles of Purchasing

Over the course of this module, you will learn the fundamental principles of the purchasing process including purchasing efficiency and organization. Topics include the administrative aspects of purchasing, purchasing methods, and how to optimize the procurement process.

Supply Chain Processes

Participants examine the various aspects of the supply chain environment. Requirement systems and enterprise resource planning systems are among the topics included in this teaching module. In addition, participants learn about the relationships that exist between purchasing, vendor selection, supply sourcing, and the role technology plays in the supply chain process. Upon completing this module, you will have a firm understanding of planning, acquisition, flow, and distribution from raw materials to finished, marketable products.

Budgeting Process Fundamentals

This module covers the fundamentals of the budgeting process and provides participants with an understanding of how to prepare and manage a budget.

The Procurement Process

In this module, you will become familiar with the fundamental principles that determine how suppliers are chosen throughout the various phases of the procurement process. You will also develop a solid understanding of the request for proposals (RFP) and contract bid processes and responses.

Supplier Relations

You will examine the various phases of the contracting process as you gain a solid understanding of purchase orders and supplier contracts. You will also explore the decision-making processes involved in vendor contracting.

Pricing and Cost Analysis

Over the course of this module, participants learn a broad range of techniques used in evaluating pricing and costing. Topics include the various methods and techniques used to improve profitability and minimize losses. A variety of price comparison methods and strategic cost analysis are also explored over the course of this module.
